"Casa de Escāndalo Studio"

Maltby, Washington

This space is to be used by an up-and-coming artist writing and producing tracks for her new album.  When designing the space a few of the criteria were, an environment where writing would be comfortable and enjoyable, technology would not overwhelm the architecture or ambience, live enough  to record critical vocal or instrumental passages but acoustically controlled enough to record the whole band.

By opening or closing different doors along the knee walls the room could be made to absorb or diffuse the energy from the instruments in the loft.  Door construction consisted of 5" deep diffuser or 2" deep absorber inserts.  The seating area also provided a unique living room atmosphere as well.  Tannoy speakers were employed in small practice PA with a Yamaha mixer and Crown amplifiers.
